What makes a 3D-printed gift actually good

Not all 3D-printed gifts are equal. Here is what to look for before you order.

The custom 3D gift market has grown fast, and with it the gap between good and disappointing. Here is what separates a gift worth giving from one that arrives looking nothing like the listing.

The finish matters more than the file

A 3D model is only as good as its post-processing. Layer lines, rough edges, and paint bleed are the most common complaints. Our pieces go through a hand-finishing pass before dispatch, which is why we can offer a replacement guarantee with confidence.

Transparent pricing is a trust signal

If the quote can change mid-job, or if postage costs more than the item, something is wrong. Every order at Vortex Forge gets a fixed quote before we start. What you approve is what you pay.

Real tracking means a real tracking number

This sounds obvious, but it is the most common point of failure in the Etsy custom 3D space. We use Royal Mail Tracked for all UK orders. You get a real number and a real scan.

Know what you are getting

Ask for the material, the finish, and the approximate layer height before you order. We include these in every product listing and quote by default.
